Sidney by the Sea on Vancouver Island isn’t just a beautiful jewel set against the Pacific Ocean – it’s also a tightly knit community that knows how to celebrate in a family friendly way!

Celebrating 50 years of automotive appreciation, Torque Masters is a local, family oriented car club filled with people who love cars! Every year they put on a fantastic show where members show off their collections of classic cars, hot rods, and vintage motorcycles. On Sunday, August 13, head to Beacon Avenue for a pancake breakfast, family activities, prizes, vendors, and, of course, hundreds of cool cars and rides!

ARTSEA is a community council dedicated to promoting arts and culture in beautiful Sidney by the Sea, and on August 19 they’re returning with a local favourite: the lantern festival! An annual event to celebrate the Salish Sea with creative and colourful lanterns made by local artisans culminating in a lively event at Beacon Park and a processional walk along the promenade to the Fishing Pier, this is fun for the whole family. You’ll be astounded at the imagination and creativity in these lanterns, and how beautiful they look against the sky!

A local fundraiser for palliative care, bed races are a fun spectacle to help the infirm! Over twenty teams assemble, turning rolling beds and gurney’s into a 21st Century chariot race! Silly costumes, face painting, and a good cause combine to make this a fun time for everyone involved. It’s a one of a kind race that you won’t want to miss.
